Yas-aloonaka AAani alkhamri walmaysiriqul feehima ithmun kabeerun wamanafiAAu linnasiwa-ithmuhuma akbaru min nafAAihima wayas-aloonaka mathayunfiqoona quli alAAafwa kathalika yubayyinu Allahulakumu al-ayati laAAallakum tatafakkaroon

1. ۞ يَسْـَٔلُونَكَyasalūnakaThey ask you
2. عَنِʿaniabout
3. ٱلْخَمْرِl-khamri[the] intoxicants
4. وَٱلْمَيْسِرِ ۖwal-maysiriand [the] games of chance
5. قُلْqulSay
6. فِيهِمَآfīhimāIn both of them
7. إِثْمٌۭith'mun(is) a sin
8. كَبِيرٌۭkabīrungreat
9. وَمَنَـٰفِعُwamanāfiʿuand (some) benefits
10. لِلنَّاسِlilnnāsifor [the] people
11. وَإِثْمُهُمَآwa-ith'muhumāBut sin of both of them
12. أَكْبَرُakbaru(is) greater
13. مِنminthan
14. نَّفْعِهِمَا ۗnafʿihimā(the) benefit of (the) two
15. وَيَسْـَٔلُونَكَwayasalūnakaAnd they ask you
16. مَاذَاmādhāwhat
17. يُنفِقُونَyunfiqūnathey (should) spend
18. قُلِquliSay
19. ٱلْعَفْوَ ۗl-ʿafwaThe surplus
20. كَذَٰلِكَkadhālikaThus
21. يُبَيِّنُyubayyinumakes clear
22. ٱللَّهُl-lahuAllah
23. لَكُمُlakumuto you
24. ٱلْـَٔايَـٰتِl-āyāti[the] Verses
25. لَعَلَّكُمْlaʿallakumso that you may
26. تَتَفَكَّرُونَtatafakkarūnaponder
